Otsego track teams top Vicksburg

VICKSBURG—The Otsego track teams both moved to 2-0 in the Wolverine Conference with wins over host Vicksburg on Tuesday, April 12.
The Otsego boys won 85.5-51.5, while the Otsego girls came away with the 73.83-63.17 victory.
Jacob Zartman led the charge for the boys squad, winning his three individual events and anchoring the first-place 4×400 relay team that posted a time of 3:41 and also included Seth Barck, Mason Kolhoff and Tristin Canales.
Zartman’s other wins came in the 100 dash (11.5), the 110 hurdles (16.3) and the 300 hurdles (43.7).
Chase Brown and Zach Spence joined Zartman in taking top honors in multiple events.
Brown won the 1,600 at 4:25 and the 3,200 at 9:50, setting new personal records in each. Spence, meanwhile, also set new personal-best efforts in winning the shot put (47-0) and the discus (121-7).
Canales (54.3 in the 400) and Jalen Radke (19-6.5) rounded out the individual-event wins for Otsego, which also won the 4×200 and 4×400 relays: the 4×200 team of Gavin Devine, Andrew Chambers, Alex Raseman and Radke posted a 1:40.6, while the 4×800 team of Kolhoff, Nick Cockerel, Pierce Bentley and Brown posted a 9:10.
Megan Germain starred for the Otsego girls, winning the 1,600 at 5:30 and the 3,200 at 12:11. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4×800 relay team that also included Claudia Stachura, Logan Brazee and Taylor Mitchell and posted a winning time of 10:25.
Otsego’s other event wins included: Madison Drouin in the shot put (36.5); Haley Guerrant in the discus (100-4); Brooklyn Carroll in the high jump (4-6); Olivia Dennis in the pole vault (7-0); and Nyla Reed in the long (15-11.5).
