Police chase ends in capture of Chinese non-citizen

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 12:22 a.m., A Clare County Sheriff Deputy was on a traffic stop on Main St near Evergreen Trail in the Village of Farwell, Township of Surrey in Clare County. During this traffic stop, a white in color 2022 Tesla Model 3 drove past the area of the stop, failing to slow down or move over and almost struck the Deputy and his patrol car.
The Deputy was able to finish the traffic stop he was on, at which point he was able to catch up to the Tesla. Once behind the Tesla, the Deputy activated his emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to conduct a stop on the vehicle. The driver of this Tesla, later identified as 35 year old male Derong Huang from the Peoples Republic of China did not stop, and continued to drive away from the Deputy. Huang continued to drive onto M-115, leaving Clare County and entering into Osceola County. A Road Sergeant with the Clare County Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain a po-sition on M-115 near 14 Mile Road, ahead of Huang and use stop sticks on Huang’s vehicle, deflating all four of his tires.
Once Huang’s tires went flat, he stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody by the Clare County Sheriff’s Deputies. Huang was lodged in the Clare County Jail and was charged with the following: one count of Police Officer Fleeing and Eluding 4th Degree, one count of Police Officer Resisting and Obstructing, and one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle with no Licensee. Huang was arraigned in the 80th District Court Clare County, where his bond was set at $30,000/10%. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on Huang, who is not a citizen of the United States. He remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.

  1. Great example of why America needs more illegals in the country! Not. How could an illegal get a 22 Tesla, and drive with no license. Was he insured? Too bad he is on an immigration hold to deported. Bummer that Clare Co will not have to spend $$$$ to prosecute.
