Sturgis city electric crews are expecting to restore power to all customers, other than those with service repair needs, by the end of the day June 16.
Remaining outages will be related to reconnecting homes that had damage to customer equipment, following repair.
Customer equipment includes anything from the service point to the home, excluding the meter itself.
Customers who have experienced damage to the customer equipment are required to have a licensed electrician repair those elements prior to power being reconnected.
Crew members have been making contact with residents whose property has been identified as one on which an electrician is needed for service to be restored. That may include an orange tag left at the property.
Customers who require these repairs should make sure that their electrician contacts the electric department at (269) 659-7287 after the repair has been completed, so the city is aware that you are ready to be reconnected and crews can be scheduled to complete the work during normal business hours, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Residents who believe their customer equipment requires repair, but are without power, are asked to contact the outage line, 269-659-7255.
While the majority of service restoration work is complete, electric and public services crews are continuing to work to address issues related to storm cleanup and repair.
Additional updates are provided on the city’s Facebook page and website.
