Senior skier having strong start

CLARE — Kendall Parsons is a senior on the Clare girls ski team and is anticipating on having a standout winter for the Pioneers.
This is her fourth year of skiing.
The first year I made it on varsity,” Parsons recalled. “The second year I made it to regional. The third year I wasn’t able to ski because of an injury. But I was still able to make it to all of the meets, so I had a lot of fun.”
Parsons practiced with the team all of last year. She has high hopes far this season.
“My hopes is for the girls to maybe make it to state and for us to obviously win conference again,” Parsons said. “One of my personal goals is to make the top 10.”
Clare won the Jack Pine Conference last season.
“With the talent we have coming in, it’s looking really good,” Parsons said. “We have strong senior skiers and strong varsity skiers coming in.”
Of the two sports, Parsons said she likes slalom.
“I have been able to improve my times,” she said. “You have to keep working at it.”
Parsons said she started skiing her eighth-grade year.
She also is a skeet shooter.
