WHITE PIGEON — White Pigeon’s softball team squeaked out a win Thursday, May 2 against Bloomingdale before being swept in a doubleheader against Hartford Monday.
Against Bloomingdale, the Chiefs got a 16-15 victory. Emily Miller finished a triple short of the cycle, notching a homer, three doubles and a single to go with four RBI. Leigha Shudell also finished a triple short of the cycle, hitting a homer, double and two singles along with three RBI. Emily Barton had two doubles and a single, Cali Raley had a double and two singles, Mable Post had a double, Rachel Byler had three singles, Madison Cavasos had a double, and Layla Abner added two singles. Post got the win pitching, striking out seven.
Against Hartford, the Chiefs won 10-0 in Game 1, and 11-8 in Game 2. In Game 1, White Pigeon got a double from Hannah Eckert and singles from Raley and Byler. In Game 2, Abner had three singles, Byler had a single and two RBI, Post had a single, Shudell had a single, Barton had a double and two RBI, Miller had a single and two RBI, and Eckert had two singles.
Constantine swept by Brandywine
NILES — Constantine’s softball team was swept on Wednesday, May 1 by Niles-Brandywine, losing 12-7 in Game 1 and 11-2 in Game 2.
In Game 1, Olivia Ransbottom went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Raeann Michalek went 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBI, Jozee Buglione had a 2-for-4 day and Kaitlyn Ross and Taryn Wolfinger each had a hit and a run scored apiece. Herlein went 0-for-3 with a walk and RBI.
In Game 2, Olivia Herlein went 2-for-3 with a double, Aubrae Good went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Ross, Ransbottom, Wolfinger and Michalek each had one hit apiece. Jocelyn Butler and Ross each had RBI.
