Sturgis swim/dive defeats Coldwater

STURGIS — The Sturgis swim team hit the pool against Coldwater on Tuesday, and came away with the win, 97-64.
The 200-meter medley relay saw Sturgis take first place, with Hannah Garbine, Kenzy Triezenberg, Ainsley Gump and Ava Albarran swimming to a time of 2:02.09. Mia Feyes, Lilly Whitehead, Chloe Clark and Katelyn Halling finished third (2:19.00), while Stella Males, Ella Whitehead, Brisa Oros and Kylie Rose placed fourth with a time of 2:31.00.
Ainsley Gump placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.16, followed in second by Sydney Herblet (2:23.59) and Rylee Myers (5th place, 2:46.94). In the 200 IM, Kaylee Draper placed first in 2:16.39, followed by Hannah Garbine in second (2:32.17) and Valeriia Sheshenia (4th place, 3:34.15).
In the 50 freestyle, Sturgis took the top three spots, with Emma Garbine placing first (25.52), Kenzy Triezenberg (2nd, 27.02), and Mia Albarran (3rd, 27.49). Cora Taylor took second in the diving event, recording 151.95 points.
In the 100 butterfly, Kaylee Draper placed first (1:03.34), Stella Males took second (1:15.42), and Chloe Clark grabbed third (1:18.04). The 100 freestyle saw Emma Garbine take first (56.34), Hannah Garbine placed second (58.58), and Mia Feyes finished fourth in 1:08.22, while teammate Katelyn Halling took fifth in 1:10.92. The 500 freestyle had Lady Trojan Sydney Herblet take first place in 6:20.40, Rylee Meyers finished third (7:37.06), and Collette Harker placed fourth with a time of 8:14.41. The 200 freestyle relay foursome of Kaylee Draper, Emma Garbine, Hannah Garbine and Ainsley Gump placed first in 1:43.84, followed in third place by Mia Albarran, Kenzy Triezenberg, Lilly Whitehead and Ava Albarran, who finished with a time of 1:57.49. Mia Feyes, Ella Whitehead, Stella Barry and Sydney Herblet placed fourth for Sturgis, finishing in 2:13.54.
The 100 backstroke had Sturgis’ Mia Albarran (1:14.57), Stella Males (1:16.25) and Mia Feyes (1:17.20) record the three fastest times, while in the 100 breaststroke, Kenzy Triezenberg posted the top time of 1:13.35. In the 400 freestyle, Ainsley Gump, Mia Albarran, Emma Garbine and Kaylee Draper swam to the top time of 3:56.54.
State qualifying times were recorded by Ainsley Gump in the 200 freestyle, Emma Garbine in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Kaylee Draper in the 200 individual medley, as well as in the 100 butterfly. The 400 freestyle foursome of Gump, Draper, Mia Albarran and Emma Grarbine also notched a state qualifying time.
