PAW PAW – Early voting in Van Buren County for this year’s general election has been one for the county record books, according to the Van Buren County Clerk.
On Monday, Nov. 4, the day before the general election, Van Buren County Clerk Suzie Roehm told The Courier-Leader, “We had a total of 6,542 voters at early voting, which ended Sunday, Nov. 3. 1,011 of those voters voted on Sunday, Nov 3, our busiest day.” Roehm said 10 percent of the county’s registered voters utilized early voting.
Nearly a week earlier, Tuesday, Oct. 29, Roehm said 2,410 people had already voted at the county’s early voting site, the former county health department building located on County Road 681, averaging approximately 700 per day.
“The numbers have broken all expectations throughout the entire state. We are currently on track to have approximately 35 times more voters utilize early voting for this general election than we had at the primary election (176 voters),” said Roehm.
