Wayland Union Schools breaks ground on new pool facility

Wayland Union Schools has begun construction on a new pool facility. This project is part of a $49.7 million bond that was passed by voters in May 2023.
Wayland Union Board of Education accepted bids for this project in February 2025, with
construction beginning in March 2025. We are proud to share that all the contractors are located within the state of Michigan.
In addition to the new pool facility, phase two of the high school bond renovations include upgrades to the current C.A.D., wood and auto shop spaces, creating a new space for robotics, and improving our band, orchestra, and choir classrooms. The district is currently in the design phase of those improvements.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the pool will be held at Wayland Union High School on Monday, April 14th at 5pm. The public is invited to attend. The ceremony will take place outside the high school at 870 E. Superior St. in Wayland. Afterwards, everyone is invited to attend the school board meeting at 6pm in the high school media center.
