One of Clare County’s largest annual events will return this weekend as thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the Yoder farm for the spring edition of Yoder’s Quilt Auction and Flea Market.
The two-day event, hosted by the Yoder family and members of the local Amish community, will take place Friday and Saturday, May 15-16, at 10885 N. Leaton Road in Clare. Flea market hours run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, while quilt and craft auctions begin each morning.
For decades, the event has grown from a small community gathering into one of mid-Michigan’s most recognizable Amish markets, routinely drawing crowds from across the state and beyond. Previous estimates have placed attendance at around 20,000 visitors over the course of the weekend, creating a major economic boost for the Clare area.
Farm fields surrounding the Yoder property will once again transform into rows of vendor tents, wagons, trailers, and food stands. Organizers expect more than 400 vendors offering everything from antiques and flea market finds to handmade furniture, quilts, crafts, tools, baked goods, jams, plants, jewelry, and Amish-made products.
The event’s quilt auction remains one of its biggest attractions. Handmade Amish quilts and crafts routinely draw large crowds and spirited bidding, with auctions taking place throughout both days. Food concessions and homemade ice cream will also be available, along with a Friday-only baked goods tent, according to promotional materials for the event.
Despite its size, the market still retains much of the rural atmosphere that first made it popular. Horse-drawn buggies remain a common sight along Leaton Road during the weekend, and many rvisitors attend as much for the experience as the shopping itself.
The event has also become an important showcase for the area’s Amish community and craftsmanship. Clare County is home to one of Michigan’s largest Amish populations, and Yoder’s market has become one of the region’s signature annual traditions.
Parking is available on-site for $1 per vehicle, while admission to the event itself is free. Organizers also remind visitors to be respectful of the Amish community and surrounding neighborhood, particularly outside of market hours.
Additional information about the event is available through the Clare Area Chamber of Commerce or by calling the Yoders at 989-386-2872.
