Young appointed new Osceola EMS director

MARION – The Osceola County EMS has a new director.
County commission chairman Mark Gregory said the county coordinator hired Steve Young of LeRoy to the position. He previously was working for Mecosta County EMS.
His first day was Monday.
Gregory made recommendations, which were approved for the following individuals to local boards, authorities and committees:
911, John Beam, 3-year term ending Dec. 31, 2024.
Building Authority, Tim Ladd, 4-year term ending Dec. 31, 2025.
County Planning Commission, Tom Michalek, 3-year term, Dec. 31, 2024.
Health and Human Services Board, Carol Edstrom, 3-year term ending Dec. 31, 2024.
MOTA, Dave Johns, 3-year term ending Dec. 31, 2024.
“They are members of the public who serve on different committees representing the county different agencies,” Gregory said.
Ladd is the county coordinator.
The board voted to purchase a Demo Ambulance from Kodiak Emergency Vehicles for cost of $197,621 and waived the policy of RFP due to limited availability of ambulances.
The board voted to approve filling the Sheriff Department Administrative Assistant Record Clerk Position Pay grade 6 Level 11 ($21.05) an hour. The Sheriff Department will write an agreement of department transfer from EMS to the Sheriff Department to be submitted to the County Coordinator by this Friday.
