CLARE – Clare’s girls track team competed in the Chippewa Hills Invitational on Saturday and coach Kyle McKown was happy with what he saw from his team.
Clare tied for fifth place with Hart and was a half-point away from fourth.
“It was a pretty good day for us overall,” McKown said. “We had a lot of performances that we’re just continuing to build on and trying to use the whole season to make progress and as a team we’re continuing to do that.
“We had a vaulter who got nine feet for the first in her career. She’s a junior. Our 3,200 meter relay ran strong with a 10:34. That was a great early season race for us as well.”
The pole vaulter was Catherine Taft who was fifth.
The relay foursome of Brooklinn Barcia, Anna Staudacher, Julia Bortoni and Lily Ware was first (10:34.47).
Sophia Buzzelli was second in the 800 meters (2:34.28). Kassidy Warner, Brooklinn Barcia, Alexis Statezni and Olvia Ryzyk were second in the 4×200 relay.
Julia Haggart was second in the shot put (34-1.5).
The Pioneers will be at Beaverton on April 18 and at the Trent Carter Windmill Invitational on April 24.
