HARRISON — Harrison’s Josh O’Day was among the baseball players who helped the Hornets have a special 2026 season.
He was a freshman for Hornet baseball and liked the promise his team had after its first two games of the season despite a pair of losses to a good Chippewa Hills team.
“I think it went OK,” he said after those games. “I think we got down on ourselves in the second game. I think I could have done better in the second game. But overall, I think we did good for our first game.”
The Hornets eventually went on to post double-digit wins and take the district title, before falling 2-1 to Manistee in the regional finals.”
For Harrison, O’Day usually plays shortstop, second base. pitcher and catcher.
As a pitcher, he felt his strengths were “decent accuracy and my curve isn’t the worst but I think it’s pretty good.”
As an infielder, “I think I communicate well and I think I have decent IQ.”
O’Day was hoping to hit around .300. “I want to keep my mental game on,” he said., “We have a lot of games and you have to stay focused at all times.”
O’Day also plays basketball and is considering doing football in the fall at Harrison.
