Man killed in Hopkins Township accident

On March 4th, 2022 at approximately 9:44pm Deputies responded to a fatal injury crash on 22nd St. just north of the Hopkins Village Limit in Hopkins Township.  Preliminary investigation shows that a pick-up truck traveling north on 22nd St., Driven by an Hopkins Township man loss control after coming out of a curve. The vehicle went off the road, overturned and came to a rest in a field.
The driver of the pickup truck had been ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on the scene. It was determined that the driver of the pickup truck was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash.
The name is being withheld as this is an ongoing investigation with the Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team.  Alcohol does appear to be a factor in this crash.
