Obituary: Carol Ann (Laughlin) Niver

Carol Ann (Laughlin) Niver, Age 80 of Marion Michigan passed from the loving arms of her family to her Heavenly Father on May 20th. She is now reunited with her Husband Donald Niver and son David Wayne Niver and many others whom she loved so deeply. Carol had a compassionate heart for all who were hurting, but her greatest love was for her children Dona (Niver) Veddler and Brian Niver and (Coral) and her grandchildren Tera Veddler, Dana (Veddler) Stahl and Husband Michael, BranDon Veddler, Shandel (Veddler) Banks and husband Travis and her Great Grand Children, Quinton and Rosaleen Veddler and Cattelaya Banks. She also loved her care takers who loved and cared for her: Jennifer Kaufman, Maria and Joshua Cruson, Katina Bailey, Shawna McDaniels, and Gina Joslin.  She had a twin brother Daryle Laughlin (Louise) who called her daily and visited often to complete the tasks on her “Brother To Do List”, and her Sister Karen (Laughlin) Gernaat whom were both dear to her.

Carol worked for many years at the Marion Elementary School as a para-professional and cared deeply for her students. She was a mentor for Kids Hope at Marion School for many years and built a basketball court for the children to enjoy when she retired from the school, and continued to maintain it throughout the years. The family’s wish is, in leu of flowers, donations can be made to the Highland CRC mentoring program for the Marion Elementary School or the maintenance of the Marion elementary playground.

When her grand children were asked what their grandma taught them, they emphatically said “Be nice to people”. They said that you could break things or crash the car or start the house on fire and grandma would not get upset “but you better NEVER say anything mean to ANYONE or hurt them in any way or you would be in BIG TROUBLE”.

Despite losing her ability to walk at age 57, she continued to enjoy life to the fullest and maintain a positive attitude. Carol loved spending time at the Cabin with family and friends and celebrating holidays and any occasion around the campfire in the woods. She enjoyed gardening in her raised gardens her Grandson Brandon and Brother Daryle built her. She also loved her time with the “Monday night girls”. She enjoyed the simple things of everyday life and really enjoyed the Snap chats and Face times with her grandchildren.

Carol was proceeded in death by her son David Wayne Niver, her husband Donald Niver, Parents George and Marj Laughlin, Father and Mother in laws Basil and Frances Niver, Brother-in-Law John Gernaat, and Sister-in-Law Barb (Niver) Ryan.
