Obituary: Patricia Ann (Pat) Lundquist

Patricia Ann (Pat) Lundquist went home to be with her Lord and Savior, she was 84. Patricia was born to Neltie and Pauleen (Walters) Grandstaff in Elkhart, Indiana in 1939. Patricia graduated from Lake Orion High School and later graduated from Henry Ford School of Nursing. She was united in marriage to Karl Lundquist, July 6, 1958 in Benzonia and after honeymooned in Port Sanilac. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together. During this time, they lived in Grosse Ile for many years and later moved up north to Gladwin.
Patricia was a devoted believer in Christ and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her pride and joy was always her family, but she also loved dearly her role as a registered nurse, spanning forty years, where she worked in various areas and leadership positions as charge nurse, house supervisor, director of nursing, and CNA Instructor at Mid Michigan College. Patricia had a true servant’s heart and cared for many people through her lifetime as a nurse, wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend. She faithfully thought of others before herself and what she could do, make, or buy to help anyone in need. She was gracious and non-judgemental to everyone she met, kind hearted, soft spoken, energetic, positive, always smiling and laughing, and overall was a true optimist in every situation. She had the ability to make everyone feel special and important in conversation no matter how small the occasion. She always left you with an encouraging word or compliment. She loved reading the paper every day and cutting out cartoon jokes, fun facts, or interesting articles to give to her kids and grandkids, as well as sports write-ups for family and extended family. Patricia was an accomplished seamstress and made many beautiful and useful items through the years for her family and friends, from baby bibs, pajamas, clothes, and coats, to table cloths, blankets, curtains, etc. She was very thoughtful and never forgot anyone’s birthday, anniversary, or special occasion and loved giving gifts, even simple finds at garage sales. She was a loving, fun, active, and involved grandma to her grandkids and enjoyed teaching them various activities through the years. She always had a spark for learning and sharing it with others.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Karl, her parents, sister Carolyn Watson, and brother Neltie Grandstaff Jr. She is survived by her children Karl (Diane) Lundquist of Colorado, Dana Lundquist of Gladwin, Ericka Lundquist of Clare, Ben (Sara) Lundquist of Cadillac, and former daughter-in-law Tina Lundquist of Beaverton, thirteen grandchildren Heather, Lyndsay, Lisa, Lexie, Kelley, Danielle, Ethan, Billy, Brian, Brent, Braedan, Ashlyn, and Madisyn, as well as nineteen great-grandchildren, sisters Teri McBride and Cherie Thomas, and several nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life graveside memorial service, honoring Patricia and Karl, will take place Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. in the Port Sanilac Cemetery in Port Sanilac with a luncheon to follow. The service will be officiated by Karl and Pat’s dear nephew, Pastor Andrew Willis. A special thank you to My Michigan Health Hospice, Woodland Hospice House of Mt.
