Ronald Leroy Nagy, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away after a short illness, July 6, 2023, at Shore Point Health Center, Punta Gorda, FL. Ronald was born July 22, 1937, in Elkhart, Indiana. He was the second of three boys born to Alex and Pearl Nagy.
After graduating from Elkhart Central High School, Ron enlisted in the United States Navy. He performed this duty and was honorably discharged in 1958. After discharge, he met his future wife, (Judy Krizman) and they were married in South Bend, Indiana, in October of 1960. Ron and Judy made Elkhart their home where they raised their two boys (Doug and Darrin).
Ron began working as a quality control specialist for a few companies, relocating several times before settling down in Paw Paw, in 1972. It was during this time that Ron began working for Shakespeare Manufacturing, Kalamazoo, while watching his boys grow up and became active in several activities. Ronald was always involved in the boys’ activities and assisted whenever he could. In 1986, Ron and Judy left Paw Paw and relocated to Punta Gorda, FL, where he would retire from his career in 1998. Ron was a member of Saint Mary’s Parish, Paw Paw, as well as St. Charles Borromeo, Port Charlotte, FL. Ron enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sports activities and traveling to tournaments across the country.
Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, in 2022.
He is survived by his two boys, Douglas (Lisa) Nagy of Port Charlotte, FL and Darrin (Michele) Nagy of Scotts, MI. Also, four grandchildren, (Stephen and Scott of Port Charlotte, FL and Darrin James II and Loren of Scotts, MI); along with many friends and neighbors.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Ron will be placed to rest at Saint Mary Cemetery.
