Paw Paw to hold Memorial Day Parade on May 27

PAW PAW – Paw Paw’s 103rd annual Memorial Day services will be held Monday, May 27, with the annual parade starting at 10 a.m. from the Bistro 120 parking lot, via Michigan Avenue to the Veterans Memorial Park for services. Parade Marshal will be Phil and Ruth Coulson, guest speaker, Jake Hindenach, and members of the Paw Paw High School Band, under direction of Amy Gronda.
The Battle Hymn of the Republic will be sung by Aliya Leavitt, the Gettysburg Address by Billy Webster, and
General Logan’s Order by Cayley Hostetler, and Echo Taps by Kendrick Brown.
Honored on this day will be (Member of the Greatest Generation) World War II veterans.
There will be a roll call of World War II area veterans. World War II veterans are asked to arrive early and report in at the Speaker Stand so they can be introduced during the services. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall on Niles Street.
Decorating of the area cemeteries (Almena, Antwerp, Waverly and Paw Paw Townships) with flags will begin the week before Memorial Day. If a grave is missing a flag holder or flag, individuals may call Bob Adams at (269) 217-5765. They will be asked to give the location of the grave in the cemetery and the name on the marker. If a veteran’s marker through the VA needs to be ordered, individuals may also contact Adams. Individuals will be asked to locate a discharge order to be able to order a marker.
