
The pilot in a single engine aircraft escaped injury when her plane crashed while taking off from South Haven Regional Airport on Monday morning.
South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) and South Haven Police Department (SHPD) responded at 9:30 a.m. to a report of a downed aircraft in a field at the end of the runway near 72nd Street, South Haven Township.
The pilot reported the plane lost power during the takeoff. The plane ended in a field. There was no fire and the pilot walked away from the crash.
The 21-year-old Diamond aircraft was based out of Goshen, Ind.
The incident has been reported to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), according to SHPD.
