Volunteers plant flowers in several locations

By Tom Renner

Flowers adorn South Haven in several locations thanks to the efforts of volunteers and the city parks staff. Plantings were recently completed at the downtown Huntington Bank wall, the Dyckman drawbridge, Johnston Park and Dyckman Park.
The volunteers represented SHOUT for South Haven, the South Haven Garden Club, Rotary Club of South Haven and nurses from Bronson Hospital – South Haven. Mayor Annie Brown joined the more than 30 volunteers at the bridge planting.
The plantings on the bank wall and Dyckman bridge were designed to celebrate the nationwide “America250” celebration. The bridge plantings, coordinated by Rotarian Bob Metzen, feature red and white begonias and purple-bluish petunias. The bank wall, designed by city gardener Ahni Turner, spells-out “250” with a fireworks burst.
